Palm Harbor Newcomers Club
JOAN'S JOTTINGS
Leapin’ Greetings to each of you as we celebrate Leap Year and all the “special” days and events in February. My favorite three are: Valentine’s Day, the 34th annual “Love Make the World Go Round; But Laughter Keeps Us From Getting Dizzy Week” and the 31st anniversary of the founding of Palm Harbor Newcomers Club!
The dynamic, enthusiastic club we enjoy today is the evolution of the vision of Claire Perry and her friends back in 1981. We continue to welcome new members, start new interesting activity groups, have entertaining luncheons and serve as a springboard for ladies to meet and form new friendships.
Did you know that by PHNC bylaws one cannot be an officer of the club if they have belonged for over five years? Many new members hesitate to take a position because they say they don’t know enough about the club! There are many helping hands that can share that information, but only newer members bring new ideas, the curiosity and enthusiasm to keep the club dynamic and ever-new!
As we start the year, we will be talking to many of you about taking positions of leadership and serving on committees to further that vision. All members (Yes, even snowbirds!) can serve on committees. The tasks are fun and rewarding! Don’t say, “No”, instead say, “I’ll give it a try!” Friendships are such an important part of our lives and being an active member in PHNC is a great way to develop those friendships.
