STEVE JERVE TO APPEAR IN FEBRUARY
Rain or shine, weather wizard appearance will make for a very fine day
Come find out how—and why—the wind blows and other unique Tampa Bay weather information at the February 16 Palm Harbor Newcomers Club meeting and luncheon. Special guest and speaker meteorologist Steve Jerve, who provides weekday weather forecasts on News Channel 8's 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 pm newscasts, will be meeting, greeting and talking informally about weather and television.
Steve attended the University of Minnesota-Morris. He earned a degree in speech communication and went on to do extensive graduate study in meteorology at Jackson State University and Mississippi State University before beginning his career as reporter, photographer, editor and weather anchor at KAAL-TV in Austin, MN. He then became main weather anchor at WJTV in Jackson, MS.
At WFTV in Orlando, FL he spent almost eight years covering hurricanes, including Andrew, where he rode out the category 5 hurricane near the National Hurricane Center in Miami. He then went to KDNL in St. Louis and won an Emmy Award in 1996.
Steve has been chief meteorologist for Channel 8’s Storm Team since 1998. His interests include traveling all over the world, World War II history, movies and science. Motorcycling is another passion he has enjoyed his whole life.
The luncheon will be held at East Lake Woodlands County Club, 1055 East Lake Woodlands Parkway, Oldsmar. Doors open at 10 am.
Be sure to make a reservation for this special appearance by a local news celebrity and a very nice guy. We predict sunny skies, a fun day and a full house.
